Announcing January 6-8 Autin Tan Cerca de la Frontera delegation - PLEASE PASS THE WORD‏

Join Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera's Solidarity Delegation to Mexico at the border, Jan. 6-8 (2012).

Visit maquiladora workers' homes and communities. Discover how workers are living with the effects of the 2008 financial crisis.  Find out why NAFTA is brutal for small businesses and so nice for big corporation; learn about fair trade alternatives. But before you leave, discover how the workers advocate for themselves and why

"I am Mexican means I have rights!"

You will also meet lots of children and celebrate with them the Day of the Three Kings, complete with piñata and Rosca bread.  Stops in San Antonio, Piedras Negras and Cd. Acuña.

$225 fee for 3-day trip covers: Transportation from Austin in a rented van, food and lodging in Mexico, translation, interpretation and background material. Passport required.  Some scholarships available. Do not hesitate to inquire.  Small discount if you register and pay a deposit by December 17.

The safety issue:  Austin Tan Cerca invites you to discuss with us your concerns about violence and safety.  Thanks to our relationships and partnership in Piedras Negras and Cd. Acuña, we have direct witness, as recently as December 1, that where and how we go to the border is safe.
