Our Story
The idea for the Legion Coffeehouse was born of the need for a safe place where fellow activists, people interested in community, and those interested in coming together in attempts to make our city a little better for those who struggle from day to day, could gather and create. Using the worker owned cooperative model we came up with a way to take back our labor and grow a space for our community. We plan to not only serve coffee but also to offer a space for community meetings that is open and free from oppression. You will know when you walk in the doors that the employees here are treated fairly and that each one of our products that we offer did not come from an oppressed worker, but from an equal part owner who holds true value in the business and its missions and that has taken every step possible to make sure what we serve came from a just system of produce. A library will be created where the community can come in and check-out zines, books and other revolutionary minded works. We will also be an art space and hope to promote local artists by displaying their work or allowing them to work on their pieces there. Really, this is going to be a community hub not just a coffee shop. But, in order to even open our doors we need your support. Please donate and help us create this space for our community.
