Ed Talks is a day of free lectures, readings and discussion-based workshops created to foster the exchange of fresh ideas between individuals in the greater Austin community.

BLOCK ONE - Corinne Lee (1:30 - 2:15)
Corinne Lee’s book PYX won the National Poetry Series. In 2007, the Poetry Society of America chose her as one of the top ten emerging poets in the United States. She is currently teaching creative writing at the University of Texas at Austin and is a Master Naturalist of Texas.

At Ed Talks, Lee will be presenting a talk titled: "Monsters, Evolution, and Literature".

BLOCK TWO - Neil Nehring (2:30 - 3:15)
Neil Nehring is an associate professor of English at the University of Texas, specializing in topics ranging from Avant-garde and Postmodern Theory to Music History. He is the author of "Flowers in the Dustbin: Culture, Anarchy, and Postwar England" and "Popular Music, Gender, And Postmodernism: Anger Is An Energy".

BLOCK THREE - Nancy Schiesari (3:30 - 4:15)
Director of Photography on over 30 documentaries and feature films broadcast for England's Channel 4, BBC, ABC, National Geographic, and PBS. She has filmed in Europe, the U.S., Africa, India, Pakistan, Iceland, and Latin America.

At Ed Talks, Schiesari will discuss the making of WARRIOR MASKS by Pratibha Parker, a documentary about female circumcision in Africa, as well as her current documentary project, CANINE SOLDIERS which explores the intimate bond between Soldier Handlers and their Military Working Dogs.

BLOCK FOUR - Bob Jensen (5:00 - 6:00)
Jensen is a professor at the University of Texas who draws on a variety of critical theories. As a strong feminist, Jensen has focused much of his work on the radical feminist critique of pornography and of masculinity. He also has written about white privilege and institutional racism.
